The project will include a schedule of activities to be carried out on the occasion of the “Feast of the Madonna” which will include food and wine tastings by local micro-enterprises, including women, singing and musical and theatrical events, a photographic exhibition “Alessandria Yesterday and today” and guided tours, to enhance the cultural and economic fabric, traditions and local history and for the benefit of the emigrant communities.
A central objective of the project is to promote roots tourism, strengthening the links between local generations and emigrants. In a country affected by depopulation, this initiative offers new opportunities to young people and local residents, while strengthening ties with those who have left the country to seek their fortune elsewhere.
The promotion of the “Roots Passport” and investment initiatives in the territory aims to fully exploit the economic and cultural potential of the region. Raising community awareness about welcoming roots tourists is critical to ensuring the long-term success of such initiatives. Disseminating information through various channels, including the municipality’s website, social media, and local radio, will ensure that the project reaches its target audience effectively. In addition, the creation of a promotional video will help to further raise awareness of the opportunities offered by roots tourism. The project on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the discovery of the simulacrum of the Madonna represents a unique opportunity for Alessandria della Rocca to enhance its cultural heritage, promote local economic development and strengthen ties with its emigrant communities.
