“Licodiani nel Mondo” consists of several events aimed at making visitors discover Licodia Eubea, a small and charming village in the province of Catania, nestled between the Iblei Mountains and the Calatino.
During Borghi dei Tesori Roots Fest, which will take place on the weekends between 10 and 26 May 2024, you can discover the Santapau Castle, the Cave of the Saints, the Civic Museum “A. Di Vita” and the “P. Angelo Coniglione” Ethnographic Museum, together with the beautiful Churches of Calvary, Church of the Carmine, Church of the Crucifix, the Mother Church and the Convent of the Capuchins and the former Monastery of San Benedetto and Santa Chiara.
Not only art, archaeology, history, but also food and wine with the opportunity to discover our local products: the cicerchia flour with which the “patacò” is prepared, the local wine and IGP grapes, the EVO oil, almonds and nougat.
For a naturalistic experience, it will be possible to take a walk to Lake Dirillo and, along the way, discover the ancient Church of Bianchetto.
There are many emigrants who return to Licodia every year to relive their childhood and to let the new generations of children of emigrants discover the country where they were born and find their roots: therefore, on the occasion of the Celebrations of the Patron Saint Santa Margherita, which is celebrated on July 20, the event Licodiani nel Mondo is held, musical entertainment festivals that host both performances and testimonies of emigrants abroad, particularly in Australia and America.
The other great summer event, in which the theme of the Roots is evoked again, is the Festival of Grapes and Typical Local Products, which takes place on the first weekend of September with musical, artistic, cultural performances and above all promotion of table grapes and local food and wine with tastings and show cooking.
