From New Zealand to Sicily is an instant. That’s right, at least for Emanuelle Bains, a young Australian actress with a French mother and grandmother from Cianciana, a village in which she has decided to live, along with the two hundred families of foreigners who have decided to settle from 2005 to the present in this village in the province of Agrigento: English, Canadians, Poles, Swedes. A boom born as a result of an Englishman of Ciancianese descent who returned to live in his homeland. Nestled on a hillside, this hamlet looks gently out to sea and winks at foreigners who fall in love with its tranquil countryside, buy homes, revolutionize their lifestyle, and live happily ever after, amid games of trump in the square between foreigners and “locals” and a real estate renaissance that has revived many abandoned houses.

Emanuelle, a 30-year-old international film hopeful who is best known for her lead role as Maddy in the second season of the children’s TV series The Sleepover Club, based on the book series of the same name, was also captivated. In August 2016, he received the Italian Movie Award at the eighth edition of the film festival held at “La Cartiera” Nature Park in Pompeii.

Emanuelle’s father is English but the other half of Emanuelle Bains’ DNA is Sicilian, partly due to her maternal grandfather who was originally from Cattolica Eraclea. The house, purchased in the main street of the town, is a source of pride for this beautiful, clear-headed girl: “Everything here seems like paradise to me, I am at ease, I like the people of Cianciano, who I find very warm and the cuisine with all its delicacies. I love in an incredible way the Sicilian culture. I met Cianciana through the Internet,” he says, “because my mother Lina wanted to find her roots and absolutely return to Sicily. Eventually we all moved to the island, even my father Paul and my sister Danielle. I, on the other hand, will be shuttling around Italy and Europe to carry out my professional activity.”

Her desire is to also work in Italy as a film or theater actress. Meanwhile, she travels the world and already has major advertising campaigns to her credit as a model, including Macpac, for a New Zealand company, and Solo Eye Wear for a U.S. company. She collaborates with her American boyfriend Luke Renard, a photographer and vlogger, with whom she made a reportage just about Cianciana and its territory.
