The Municipality of Bivona aims to implement a program of events that reflect the cultural and religious pillars of the Santa Rosalia event, with the aim of enhancing the richness of the local tradition, making it a destination of primary importance for travelers interested in cultural roots.
2024 marks an important anniversary for the City of Bivona which celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the proclamation of Saint Rosalia as Patroness of the City of Bivona (4 September 1624-2024).
Within the celebration, four musical and folkloristic performances are planned, two artistic workshops focused on Sicilian traditions and popular religious songs, and a workshop on the preparation of cubata, with an adjoining tasting event of typical sweets.
On September 1, 2024, as per popular tradition, the preparation of the cubata di Santa Rosalia will take place in the public square, a typical dessert of the religious tradition, which has its roots in the period of the first cults of Santa Rosalia in the sixteenth century.
The two local folk groups, the Bivona Folk Association and the Sikania Folk Association, will present 2 shows of folk songs and dances in the streets of the town during the 5 days of the event.
During the solemn procession of the statue of Santa Rosalia, on September 4th, the two band groups of the town will be invited to participate.
