On August 16th, the charming historic center of Piraino will be transformed into a large open-air temple, where devotees and tourists will be able to appreciate the architectural and naturalistic beauties of the medieval village, in a kaleidoscopic of popular music, art and excellent food.
The celebrations in honor of San Rocco represent a characteristic moment of the Pirainesi traditions, during which, religious rites such as masses and processions, will be followed by games in the squares, setting up markets of typical local products and handicrafts.
During the religious festival, the simulacrum of San Rocco is carried in procession through the streets of the town, starting from the church of the Rosario located in Piazza Rosario, the celebrations end with the traditional maccheronata in Piazza della Libertà, crowned by good music, live shows and with the characteristic fireworks fired from the terrace overlooking the sea known as Guardiola.
