ROCCAFIORITA: The Smallest Municipality in Sicily in the Week of the Festival

The “week of the party” is the central moment of all the events that take place in Roccafiorita, the program of the project envisaged by the roots tourism call will be concentrated in this week, the period is between 17 and 25 August 2024, in which the following initiatives are planned: – Moment dedicated to the Fioritane communities abroad as part of the main festival in honor of Our Lady Maria SS. Dell’Aiuto); – Setting up a photographic exhibition with period images, memorabilia and memories of the town; – Production of original content on local traditions in various video formats, the CINEMADAMARE association will be a guest who will entertain the emigrants of Roccafiorita with short films and related activities; – Creation of a space for “Roots Workshops” at the municipal library; – Host the “Pilgrim’s House” as a place of welcome for the roots tourist.
To which is added through the “Metropolitan Network of Municipalities for Roots Tourism – Messina”: – support in ensuring the services requested in the deed of commitment, through a dedicated figure, available by phone or email; – communication through a website of the metropolitan network, within which there will be a page of the municipality of Roccafiorita with content in Italian, Spanish and English; – the communication of local initiatives through the main social channels, with content in Italian, Spanish and English; – scientific support, through collaboration with the University of Messina, for study, research or dissemination activities (seminars, publications, etc.) and making available a list of qualified scholars available to accept any genealogical research assignments.
While the Municipality will offer support to local production activities, encouraging the creation of local services for travelers of the roots, also through the communication campaign connected to the “Passport of the Italian Roots” and the promotion of working holiday experiences.
In addition, a short audiovisual will be produced to describe the development of the project activities, with a promotional and documentary character.
