Although the Roman Martyrology fixes the date of the memory of the martyrdom of the Carmelite saint on May 5th, in the community of Sant’Angelo Muxaro, the date of August 16th has taken on a fundamental role as it is the period in which the highest influx of emigrants in the village is recorded.
These emigrants, not being able to participate in the canonical feast of May 5th, have made this date their own which is still celebrated by the community as August 16th is the date on which a relic of the Saint is transferred to the Municipality and in which the memory of the liberation of the plague of the City of Licata occurs.
The patronal feast of Sant’Angelo Martire is a great moment of union of the entire Sant’Angelo community in which for the whole day you can breathe and savor the festive air.
After the traditional procession of the relics of Sant’Angelo, the festival ends with a musical and fireworks display
