Santo Stefano Quisquina, an enchanting “urban living room” in the Sicani Mountains, is a small village surrounded by architectural and natural beauty, awarded the title of “City of Cheese 2020”.
With a pleasant climate all year round, it offers a pleasant walk through eighteenth-century squares and fountains such as Piazza Castello and ancient palaces, evidence of the rich heritage of Stefano.
The municipality, with a tourist vocation, presents places such as the church of S. Calogero and the Hermitage of Santa Rosalia, offering suggestive spaces for contemplation and immersion in nature, in the Sicani Park.
The Buonanotte Equipped Area, 7 km from the center, and the Andromeda Theater, designed by Lorenzo Reina Pastore/Artist, enrich the offer of relaxation and entertainment.
The cheese of Santo Stefano Quisquina is a world excellence, with companies renowned for the “Pecorino DOP Siciliano”, a culinary bond that unites Sicilians in the world. Cheese will be the basis of the bond between Santo Stefano Quisquina and the Stefanese communities in the world, because cheese has always been a tradition within the Stefanese families.
The Municipality, at the same time as the days dedicated to the “Roots Tourism 2024” project, will open the XXII Edition of the Cheese Festival to the public on 18/19 May.
The event that becomes an international showcase, puts the gastronomic excellence of the area in the foreground and has become, over the last few years, one of the most important Sicilian dairy events, as well as a significant moment of meeting for all the Stefanesi in the world and an opportunity to relate to the Sicani Mountains.
The Municipality collaborates with the “Tourism of the Roots” project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for travelers interested in workholidays.
He is also a member of the Borghi dei Tesori association, participating in the “Yourhistory” project and contributing to the activities of enhancement of traditions conducted by the Turismo delle Radici-Sicilia association.
The Villages of Treasures Roots Fest project, in collaboration with other Sicilian municipalities, celebrates the Year of Roots Tourism in 2024.
It involves over 500 young people and aims to stimulate the discovery of Sicilian roots by travelers.
The Municipality will actively participate with guided tours, tastings, experiences in artisan workshops and special initiatives to enhance the territory.
The program includes 4 days for 4 important events:
11 May 2024 – In the footsteps of Rosalia, the Santuzza Palermo.
Trekking day to the Quisquina Hermitage and visit to a dairy farm with tasting of fresh products created by the Chef.

18-19 May 2024 XXII Cheese Festival
25 May – PicNic Sicano Visit to the Ferranti Dairy company, leader in the production of stretched curd cheeses and Sicilian pecorino DOP.
26 May – The artisan tradition is worn.
The jewel in Chizzo Chiacchierino lace
● Fiori d’Arancio, a company that has enhanced and innovated an ancient embroidery technique, the “Sicilian tatting lace” that makes totally handmade jewelry and accessories.
● Litegi ceramics workshop, visit to the company.
Experience in the laboratory will be carried out with decoration of a ceramic object.
